Mathabhanga is a legislative assembly constituency located in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. It is a reserved constituency for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. The constituency has a long history of Left Front dominance, with CPI(M)’s Dinesh Chandra Dakua winning the seat continuously from 1977 to 2001 a span of six consecutive elections.
